Lifeline
You may qualify for assistance with your Internet or telephone service through Lifeline and Reliance Connects.
What is Lifeline?
Lifeline is a government program that reduces the monthly cost of phone or broadband service for qualifying low-income households. The program:
- Reduces the cost of phone bills up to $5.25 per month;
- Reduces the cost of broadband service by $9.25 per month;
Note: Federal and state regulations limit the Lifeline benefit to one per household for either phone or broadband service.
How do I qualify?
The Lifeline Program is available to qualified, low income consumers and offers a discount for telephone or internet service. If you participate in at least one of the following programs, you may be eligible for a Lifeline Program discount:
- Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP)
- Supplemental Security Income (SSI)
- Medicaid
- Federal Public Housing Assistance
- Veterans Pension and Survivors Benefit Program
- Or if your total household income is at or below 135% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines.
How do I apply?
If you currently receive benefits from one of the above listed programs, or if your total household income is at or below 135% of federal poverty guidelines, you can apply for Lifeline online at www.LifelineSupport.org or contact them at 800-234-9473.
What happens after I apply for discounted Lifeline service?
Once your application has been submitted, please notify our office. Your eligibility will be verified and confirmed. Remember, you can only receive the Lineline Discount from one service provider.
If my application is approved, how long before I see the discount on my phone or Internet bill?
It depends on when your billing cycle begins. It could take between 30-90 days.
Recertification
You will be required to recertify your ongoing eligibility for Lifeline annually. You will receive a form from Lifeline to complete and sign each year.
