How Call Manager Works

First-Time Callers Are Screened

When someone calls your landline for the first time, they will hear a short message asking them to press 1 to continue.

If they press 1, the call comes through and their number is added to your Approved Caller List. Approved callers will not hear the message again.

Telemarketers and Robocalls Are Blocked

Most automated systems cannot respond when asked to press 1.

This means telemarketers and robocalls cannot pass the screening process and will not ring your phone.

Your Important Calls Still Get Through

Any phone number you have already approved will always come through normally.

We also maintain a small but growing list of trusted community numbers, such as:

  • Schools
  • Pharmacies
  • Medical offices
  • Utilities
  • Emergency services

These numbers may bypass screening. This list is currently limited and is not guaranteed to include every organization.

If you receive automated calls you do not want to miss, such as prescription reminders or appointment confirmations, please write down those numbers so they can be added to your Approved Caller List.

Managing Your Call Manager

You can manage Call Manager in three ways:

  1. Through the optional Call Manager Online Portal.
Click here for instructions on using the Call Manager online portal.

  2. From your home phone.
Click here for instructions on using Call Manager with your phone.

  3. Or by calling our office.

Most customers prefer to have our local Customer Service team handle changes for them.
However, you can use the keypad controls from your home phone whenever needed.

Do Not Disturb (DND) Feature

Do Not Disturb (DND)

Call Manager also includes a Do Not Disturb (DND) option that allows you to temporarily silence all incoming calls during certain hours of the day. This can be helpful if you prefer quiet evenings, work night shifts, or do not want your home phone ringing during your sleep.

When DND is active, all incoming calls are blocked, and callers will be sent to your voicemail if you have it set up.

Approved callers, community callers, and first-time callers will all follow the DND rule.

How DND Works

  • You choose a start time and an end time.
  • During those hours, your home phone will not ring.
  • The schedule will repeat every day until you change or disable it.
  • If you need to make adjustments, we can help update your settings at any time.

How to Turn On Do Not Disturb

DND can be set up in two ways:

  • Call our local Customer Service team, and we will set the schedule for you. This is the easiest option for most customers.
  • Use the Call Manager web portal if you prefer to manage your settings online.

If you are unsure which method works best for you, simply give us a call and we will take care of everything.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I have to screen callers every time?

No. Once a caller presses 1 the first time, they are added to your Approved Caller List and will not hear the message again.

Will important automated calls still reach me?

Many will, but not all. Our trusted community list is limited. If you rely on automated reminders, please take note of those numbers and contact us so we can add them to your approved caller list.

Does Call Manager block scammers?

It helps block many scam attempts by stopping fully automated callers that cannot press 1. If a call does get through you can immediately block it upon hanging up by dialing *96

Does this work with all landlines?

Yes. After it is activated, Call Manager works with all Reliance Connects landline services.
